Jump Transition

Beginner
  • Jump
  • Transition

A jump where you change direction in the air and land riding the other way. It joins your jump and transition skills and opens the way to rotations with a change of direction.

How to

  1. Edge and send

Edge hard and send the kite from 11 or 1 o'clock up to 12 o'clock as you pop.

  2. Stop the kite at 12

Level the bar so the kite stops around 12 o'clock instead of drifting on to the new side.

  3. Turn on the way down

When you start to descend, turn your head and shoulders to look downwind toward your landing.

  4. Steer the kite down

Steer the kite down toward the new direction so it pulls you out of the landing.

  5. Land on the new tack

Touch down tail first with the board pointing slightly downwind and carve onto your new edge.

Common mistakes

  • Turning your head early

Wait until you start descending so the kite does not drift across the window.

  • Looking back for the kite

Look downwind at your landing so you do not land on an edge.

  • Kite left at 12

Steer the kite down to the new side as you come down so it gives you power to ride away.
