Kitesurf trick

Onefoot Drag Transition

Intermediate
  • Drag
  • Jump
  • One foot
  • Transition

A low, gliding transition where your back foot comes out and drags through the water while the kite lifts you round to the new direction.

How to

  1. Steer the kite up slowly

Ride heelside with speed and steer the kite up slowly toward 12 o'clock.

  2. Small pop, grab and foot out

Make a small pop, grab the heelside rail with your back hand and slide your back foot out as you leave the water.

  3. Glide and drag

Hold the board up beside you on your front foot and let the kite's lift carry you while your free foot skims the water.

  4. Send the kite back

Steer the kite across to the new side as you come round so it pulls you out of the turn.

  5. Foot back and ride

Put your back foot back in its strap before you take weight and ride away in the new direction.

Common mistakes

  • Popping too high

Keep the pop small so you glide just over the water and your foot can reach it.

  • Kite slow to new side

Send the kite across early so its lift carries you round.

  • Foot back in too late

Get it in the strap before you load the board.
