Frontroll Onefoot Transition

Intermediate
  • Jump
  • One foot
  • Transition
  • Rotation

A frontroll transition where you take your back foot out of its strap during the rotation. It combines two moves you already know and asks for good timing.

How to

  1. Loosen and fly up

Wiggle your back foot loose in its strap, then edge hard and fly the kite up toward 12 o'clock as you pop.

  2. Start the frontroll

Kick off your back leg, dip your front shoulder and look back over your back shoulder.

  3. Grab and foot out

Grab the board with your back hand and slide your back foot out of its strap, then extend that leg.

  4. Foot back in

As you come round from facing upwind, put your back foot back in its strap.

  5. Dive and land

Release the grab, dive the kite down toward the new side and land heading downwind.

Common mistakes

  • Foot stuck in strap

Loosen your back foot before take off so it slides out easily.

  • Foot back too late

Start bringing it back as soon as you come round from facing upwind.

  • Rotation too fast

Send for height and float so the rotation is slow enough to get the foot out and back.
