Kitesurf trick

Frontroll Inverted Onefoot

Intermediate
  • Jump
  • One foot
  • Rotation
  • Inverted

A high inverted frontroll where, once the rotation is done, you grab the board and kick one foot out while hanging under the kite. A floaty frontroll variation that needs plenty of hang time.

How to

  1. Pop into a high frontroll

Edge hard and send for a high inverted frontroll, starting over calm water in moderate wind.

  2. Fly the kite forward

Steer the kite forward over your head so it keeps holding you up through the rotation.

  3. Finish the rotation

Complete the inverted frontroll so you are hanging upright under the kite again.

  4. Grab and kick out

Hold the bar with your front hand, grab the board with your back hand and kick your back foot out of its strap.

  5. Foot back and land

Put the foot back in its strap, dive the kite and touch down heading downwind.

Common mistakes

  • Not enough height

Send higher and fly the kite forward so you still have time after the rotation.

  • Foot out too early

Wait until you are upright again before you free your foot.

  • Foot back too late

Put the foot back in before you start to drop.
