Frontroll Inverted with Grab

Intermediate
  • Jump
  • Grab
  • Rotation
  • Inverted

A frontroll where you go upside down with the board above your head while holding a grab. It adds style to a frontroll you already control and prepares you for more advanced inverted tricks.

How to

  1. Edge and send

Ride with speed, edge hard with the kite at 11 or 1 o'clock and send it toward 12 as you pop, on a moderate kite over deep water.

  2. Keep hands close together

Hold the bar with your hands close together in the centre so you can let one go without steering the kite.

  3. Front knee up and grab

Start the frontroll, bring your front knee up and grab the board with your back hand.

  4. Throw your head back

Throw your head back so your body tips upside down with the board above you as you rotate.

  5. Spot your landing

Release the grab, look for the water and land with the board pointing downwind.

Common mistakes

  • Not enough inversion

Throw your head back further so the board rises above your head.

  • Reaching down for the board

Bring your front knee up so the board comes to your hand.

  • Hands wide on the bar

Keep your hands close together so letting go does not steer the kite.
