Kitesurf trick
Frontroll to Toeside Transition
- Jump
- Grab
- Transition
- Rotation
A frontroll transition where you land riding toeside in the new direction. You grab the edge of the board through the rotation and land straight on your toe edge.
How to
Fly the kite high
Ride with speed, steer the kite up high toward 12 o'clock, then edge hard and pop.
Throw the frontroll
Kick off your back leg and look back over your back shoulder to rotate forward while the kite keeps moving toward the new side.
Grab the edge
Reach your front hand down to the edge of the board and hold it through the rotation.
Bend your back leg
Bend your back leg so the board swings round under you into a toeside position as you finish the roll.
Land toeside
Let go of the edge, steer the kite down on the new side and land on your toe edge riding away.
Common mistakes
Over-rotating to heelside
Stop the rotation as your chest faces upwind so you come down on your toes.
Board swinging loose
Hold the edge until the board is under you so it lands where you want it.
