Kitesurf trick
Tailgrab Frontroll
- Jump
- Grab
- Rotation
A frontroll where your back hand holds the tail of the board through the forward rotation. A classic old school combination that follows naturally from your frontroll grabs.
How to
Pop and start the frontroll
Pop with the kite at 11 or 1 o'clock, level the bar and turn your head downwind to start rotating.
Bring the tail up
Bend your back knee and extend the front leg so the tail of the board comes up toward your back hand.
Grab the tail
Hold the tail with your back hand early in the rotation.
Rotate with the grab
Keep looking round and hold the grab while you complete the roll.
Release and dive out
Let go once you see the landing, dive the kite and touch down heading downwind.
Common mistakes
Reaching for the tail
Bring the tail up with your back knee instead of bending down.
Grab slows the rotation
Keep your head and shoulders turning through the whole roll.
Late release
Let go as soon as you spot the landing.
