Kitesurf trick
Tic Tac Toe
- Jump
- Grab
- One foot
- Rotation
- Board-off
A high rotation where you take your back foot out, grab the board, free your front foot too, spin the board and put both feet back in before landing. Learn it once your tic tac and onefooter are reliable.
How to
Boost a high rotation
Send a big, controlled jump with a rotation, on a kite you know well in moderate wind.
Back foot out first
Take your back foot out of its strap on the way up.
Grab, then front foot out
Grab the board and slide your front foot out so the board hangs from your hand.
Spin and catch the toe edge
Start the board spinning with your hand and catch it by its toe edge once it has come round.
Feet back in and land
Bring the board back under you, put both feet in while you still have height, then land heading downwind.
Common mistakes
Not enough height
Only try it on jumps with plenty of hang time.
Front foot out before the grab
Hold the board first, then free your front foot, so it never falls away.
Feet in too late
Start bringing the board under you as soon as you catch the toe edge.
