Inverted Backroll Onefoot Transition
- Jump
- Grab
- One foot
- Transition
- Rotation
- Inverted
An inverted backroll transition where you grab the nose and take your front foot out at the top. It mixes inversion, a onefoot and a change of direction, an advanced combo for riders comfortable with both parts.
How to
Loosen and set up
Loosen your front foot in its strap, then edge hard with the kite at 11 or 1 o'clock and send it toward 12 as you pop.
Throw your shoulder back
Throw your shoulder back, upwind, and kick the board up above your head as for an inverted backroll, on a moderate kite over deep water.
Grab the nose
Bring the board within reach and grab the nose with your front hand.
Front foot out
While upside down, slide your front foot out and extend the leg, then put it back in its strap as you come round.
Dive to the new side
Release the nose, dive the kite to the new side and land tail first heading downwind in the new direction.
Common mistakes
Board coming away
Hold the nose firmly before you take the foot out.
Kite drifting back
Keep the kite high above you so it does not drift back across the window.
Foot back too late
Bring it back as soon as you pass the inverted point.
