Kitesurf trick

Onefoot Transition

Intermediate
  • Jump
  • Grab
  • One foot
  • Transition

A jump transition where you take your front foot out of its strap and kick it down at the top before landing the other way. It adds a onefoot to your jump transition.

How to

  1. Move the kite up

Edge hard and send the kite from 11 or 1 o'clock to 12 o'clock as for a jump transition.

  2. Grab the board

At the top, hold the heel edge with your back hand and bring the board up close to you.

  3. Front foot out

Slide your front foot out of its strap and kick the leg down while the kite stays at 12.

  4. Foot back and turn

Put the foot back in its strap, let go of the board and turn it toward the new direction.

  5. Steer the kite down

Steer the kite down to the new side with your new front hand and land tail first, heading slightly downwind.

Common mistakes

  • Dropping the board

Hold the board up with your back hand and lift your foot back to it instead of letting it fall away.

  • Kite drifting past 12

Keep the kite parked at 12 while your foot is out.

  • Landing on one foot

Get your foot back in the strap before you steer the kite down.
