Kitesurf trick
Jump Transition Grab
- Jump
- Grab
- Transition
A jump transition where you add a grab at the peak before landing in the new direction. A simple way to add style once your jump transitions feel steady.
How to
Set up your transition
Ride with speed and edge hard, then fly the kite up slowly toward 12 o'clock as for a normal jump transition.
Pop and hold the center
Pop off your edge as the kite reaches 12 o'clock and hold the bar in the center with your front hand.
Grab at the peak
Lift your knees and grab the board between your feet with your back hand while the kite stays close to 12 o'clock.
Release and steer
Let go of the board, put your back hand on the bar, look to the new direction and steer the kite down that way.
Land in the new direction
Turn the board to the new direction and land heading downwind with knees bent.
Common mistakes
Grabbing too late
Go for the grab right at the top so you have time to release and steer.
Kite passing 12
Keep the kite close to 12 o'clock during the grab, then steer it firmly once you let go.
