Kitesurf trick
Backroll Transition
- Jump
- Transition
- Rotation
A backroll where you land riding the other way. It puts your backroll and your jump transition together and is a common step before rotations with more height.
How to
Edge and slow down
Edge upwind with the kite at 11 or 1 o'clock and ease the bar out so you go upwind with little pressure.
Send short and sharp
Send the kite quickly up to 12 o'clock and level the bar so it stops there.
Carve and take off
Carve upwind into the rotation, stamp off your back leg and then pull the bar for lift.
Rotate and dive
As you come round, turn your head to the landing and dive the kite with your new front hand towards the new direction.
Land in the new direction
Touch down tail first with the board pointing downwind in your new direction and edge away.
Common mistakes
Kite past 12 o'clock
Keep the send short and level the bar before take off so the kite stops at 12.
No dive to finish
Dive the kite towards the new direction as you come round so it pulls you out of the landing.
Landing across the wind
Point the board downwind before you touch down.
Builds on
