Double Backroll Transition

Advanced
  • Jump
  • Transition
  • Rotation

A double backroll where you land riding the other way. It puts your double backroll and your backroll transition together and needs precise kite timing.

How to

  1. Approach at medium speed

Ride with low to medium speed and edge hard upwind with the kite at 11 or 1 o'clock.

  2. Send the kite across

Send the kite up past 12 o'clock toward the new side as you take off.

  3. First roll going up

Turn a flat first backroll with your feet under you and finish it while you are still rising.

  4. Throw the second

Use that momentum to start the second roll early, throwing your head back and tucking your knees hard.

  5. Dive and land

During the second roll, dive the kite down in the new direction and land riding downwind.

Common mistakes

  • Too much speed

Approach slower so you can stop your momentum and go the other way.

  • Late second rotation

Start the second roll straight after the first, while you still feel the kite.

  • Late kite dive

Dive the kite in the new direction during the second roll so it pulls you out the new way.
