Kitesurf trick

Double Halfcab Transition

Advanced
  • Transition
  • Rotation

A double backroll with a frontside 180 added in the second rotation, landing riding the other way. One of the most advanced transitions, built on your double backroll transition.

How to

  1. Create momentum

Ride with speed and carve hard upwind with the kite at 11 or 1 o'clock, winding your shoulders up.

  2. Send and pop

Send the kite toward 12 o'clock and pop hard off your edge, levelling the bar on take-off.

  3. Feet up, head back

Throw your feet up and your head back to start the first rotation like a backroll.

  4. Switch the spin

In the second rotation, change your spinning axis to turn the extra frontside 180, holding a grab if it keeps you compact.

  5. Land the other way

Steer the kite through to the new side, spot the landing and land with soft knees riding the other way.

Common mistakes

  • Rotation fading

Stay tucked, holding your grab if you use one, until you see the landing.

  • Rushing the extra 180

Complete the first rotation as a plain backroll and only change the spin in the second.

  • Kite late to new side

Steer it across during the second roll so it is ready for landing.
