Kitesurf trick

Double Backroll

Advanced
  • Jump
  • Rotation

Two full backward rotations in one jump. The next big step after a solid backroll, it needs height, a tight tuck and full commitment.

How to

  1. Carve hard upwind

Ride with speed and carve hard upwind, driving your back heel into the water as the kite lifts.

  2. Bring the kite overhead

Right after take-off, pull your front hand to bring the kite back above your head.

  3. Rotate from the hips

Drive the rotation with your hips and board, not your head, keeping the bar pulled in at hip level.

  4. Stay compact

Keep your legs up and the bar close so you float through both rotations.

  5. Dive the kite to land

Once you spot the landing, around one and a half rotations, pull your front hand to dive the kite and touch down heading downwind.

Common mistakes

  • Throwing the head

Start the spin with the carve and your hips so you keep control of the kite and the landing.

  • Kite drifting behind

Pull your front hand right after take-off so the kite gets back overhead.

  • Diving the kite late

Dive the kite as soon as you see the landing so it pulls you out of the second rotation.
