Kitesurf trick

Frontroll Transition

Beginner
  • Jump
  • Transition
  • Rotation

A frontroll where you land riding the opposite way, steering the kite to the new side during the rotation. It combines your frontroll and jump transition into one smooth move.

How to

  1. Carve and send to 12

Carve hard upwind, pop and send the kite to 12 o'clock with the bar in.

  2. Start the frontroll

Drop your front shoulder and turn your head downwind to start the forward rotation.

  3. Steer to the new side

During the rotation, steer the kite forward toward the new direction so it stays above you.

  4. Finish the rotation

Lift your knees and keep looking round until you see the landing on the new tack.

  5. Land and ride away

Touch down with the board flat and pointing downwind and edge off in the new direction.

Common mistakes

  • Stopping the kite at 12

Keep steering it toward the new side so the kite catches you.

  • Landing on an edge

Land with the board flat and pointing downwind so you keep your speed.

  • Too much forward speed

Carve harder upwind before take-off to slow down.
