Kitesurf trick

Onefooter

Intermediate
  • One foot

A jump where you take your back foot out of the strap and extend it while holding the board, then put it back before landing. A style trick that builds your board control in the air.

How to

  1. Loosen the back strap

Loosen your back strap slightly so your foot slides out and back in easily.

  2. Jump and level the bar

Take off with good height and level the bar straight away so the kite stays overhead around 12 o'clock.

  3. Grab the heel edge

Lift your knees and hold the heelside rail between your back foot and the fin with your back hand.

  4. Lift the foot out

Push the board forward and lift your back foot up and out of the strap, extending the leg for style.

  5. Foot back in early

Put the foot back in after the peak and before you are halfway down, then let go and land heading downwind.

Common mistakes

  • Losing the board

Keep a firm grab so the board stays pressed against your front foot.

  • Foot back in too late

Put the foot back in after the peak and before you are halfway down.

  • Straps too tight

Loosen the back strap a little so your foot comes out without a fight.
