Kitesurf trick

Darkslide Onefoot

Intermediate
  • Drag
  • One foot

A darkslide where you take your back foot out of its strap and stretch it toward the water while you slide. It adds onefoot control to a darkslide you already own.

How to

  1. Loosen the back strap

Loosen your back foot in its strap before you start so it comes out easily.

  2. Slide in as usual

Enter the darkslide as you know it, with speed and the kite moving up toward 12.

  3. Back foot out

Once you are sliding, pull your back foot out of the strap and stretch the leg toward the water.

  4. Release the back hand

Let go with your back hand and stretch it out while your front hand stays on the bar.

  5. Bend hips and knees

Bend your hips and knees to bring the board back under you, slip the foot back in and ride away.

Common mistakes

  • Strap too tight

Loosen the back strap beforehand so the foot slides out without a fight.

  • Foot out too early

Settle into the slide first and only then take the back foot out.

  • Staying stretched at the exit

Bend your hips and knees so the board comes back under your feet.
