Kitesurf trick

Onefoot Drag

Intermediate
  • Drag
  • One foot

A bodyslide variation where your back foot stays in its strap, you grab the board and drag your front leg through the water, then loop the kite to pull you back up. It needs a committed, well-timed loop.

How to

  1. Pop low

Ride with speed, kite at 11 or 1 o'clock, and take a small pop without sending the kite.

  2. Twist and grab

Turn your shoulders downwind and grab the board with your free hand as you drop toward the water.

  3. Front foot out

Slide your front foot out of its strap and drag that leg through the water while your back foot stays in.

  4. Loop the kite

Pull a low kiteloop with your bar hand so the kite pulls you back out of the water, only in steady wind with space downwind.

  5. Foot back and ride

Put your front foot back in its strap as you come up and ride away.

Common mistakes

  • Loose grip on the board

Hold the board firmly so it stays under your back foot while your leg drags.

  • Looping too late

Start the loop as soon as your leg is in the water so you do not sink and stop.

  • Too much height

Keep the pop small so your leg reaches the water straight away.
