Frontroll Grab

Intermediate
  • Jump
  • Grab
  • Rotation

A frontroll with a board grab, such as an Indy, tail or nose grab, held during the rotation. It adds style and control to your frontroll once both moves feel easy.

How to

  1. Pick your grab

Choose a grab you already land on straight jumps, like an Indy or a tail grab.

  2. Pop and start rotating

Pop with the kite at 11 or 1 o'clock and start the frontroll with your head and shoulders.

  3. Tuck and grab

Pull your knees up and grab the board early in the rotation.

  4. Hold through the roll

Keep the grab while you rotate and your front hand steady on the bar.

  5. Release and land

Let go once you have spotted the landing, dive the kite and touch down heading downwind.

Common mistakes

  • Grabbing too late

Tuck and grab as soon as the rotation starts.

  • Rotation stalls

Keep your head turning while you hold the grab.

  • Bar pulled in

Keep the bar where it is so the kite does not power up mid-roll.
