Kitesurf trick
Flip Boardoff
- Jump
- Grab
- Board-off
A boardoff where you hold the board by its edge, turn it sideways and spin it a full turn in the air before putting your feet back in. It builds on the basic boardoff.
How to
Practise on land
Practise the grab and the spin on land without a kite before you try it on the water.
Jump with height
Send the kite to 12 o'clock and keep it there for a big, floaty jump in moderate wind.
Grab and feet out
At the top, grab the heelside edge with your back hand and slide both feet out.
Spin the board
Turn the board sideways to the wind and spin it a full turn with your wrist, letting the wind help.
Feet in and land
Catch it flat under you, slide your feet back in with the bar in and land pointing slightly downwind.
Common mistakes
Not enough height
Jump higher and keep the kite at 12 so the spin and the catch both fit.
Board flat to the wind
Turn the board sideways so the wind helps it spin.
Feet back in too late
Get the board back on before you start to drop.
