Kitesurf trick
Boardoff Jumpstart
- Jump
- Grab
- Board-off
A beach start where you stand on the shore holding the board, let the kite lift you off the sand and put the board on your feet in the air before you land on the water.
How to
Hold board and bar
Stand at the water's edge in shallow, clear water with the kite at 12 o'clock, one hand on the bar center and the board under your other arm by its handle.
Pull down for lift
Steer the kite slightly toward your riding direction and pull the bar down firmly so the kite gives you lift.
Jump with the lift
Jump up as the lift comes, pull your knees up and bring the board under your feet.
Feet in and land
Slide your feet into the straps in the air, land on the water with knees bent and ride away.
Common mistakes
Jumping before the lift
Wait until the kite pulls you up, then jump with it.
Feet in too late
Bring the board under you as soon as you leave the ground so you are strapped in before you drop.
Losing the board
Hold it firmly by the handle so the pull does not rip it out of your hand.
