Jump Handdrag
- Drag
- Jump
- Inverted
A small pop where you lean back, swing the board up above you and touch the water with your back hand before rotating back onto your feet. The entry move for hand drag rolls and transitions.
How to
Ride heelside with speed
Ride heelside on a solid edge with the kite at 11 or 1 o'clock.
Kite back and forward
Steer the kite slightly back toward 12, then forward again as you release your edge.
Pop gently
Give only a minimal pop so you stay close to the water.
Reach down, back hand
Let go with your back hand and reach down to the water while your legs swing the board up above you.
Rotate back and land
Keep the front hand on the bar, let your legs come back down under you and ride away on the same tack.
Common mistakes
Popping too high
Use a minimal pop so your hand can reach the water.
Kite left behind
Steer the kite forward again as you leave the water so it carries you through.
Board stays low
Lift your knees and swing the board up so your hand, not your hip, touches the water.
