Kitesurf trick

Kiteloop

Advanced
  • Jump
  • Kiteloop

A full 360 degree loop of the kite during a jump. The kite pulls hard through the loop and carries you downwind, so it takes control and the right wind.

How to

  1. Start small

Jump low with just enough power, on a smaller kite in moderate wind, ready to pull hard on your back hand.

  2. Level the kite at 12

Send the kite to 12 o'clock and level the bar so it stops there with tension in the lines.

  3. Loop on the way down

Late in the jump, just before touchdown, pull the back hand hard and push the front hand away.

  4. Keep pulling

Hold the turn and look at the kite until it has come all the way round, even if it seems to dive.

  5. Land and carve

Land tail first with the board pointing just downwind and carve onto your heel edge.

Common mistakes

  • Releasing too early

Keep pulling the back hand until the kite has come all the way round.

  • Kite behind 12 o'clock

Level the bar earlier so the kite starts the loop from 12 with tension.

  • Jumping too big

Keep the jump low and loop late until the pull feels familiar.
