Kitesurf trick

Megaloop

Advanced
  • Jump
  • Kiteloop

A kiteloop thrown on a big jump while you are still rising, so the kite loops low in the window and pulls you far downwind. It is a big step on from a kiteloop and needs strong wind and full commitment.

How to

  1. Build big height

Edge hard and send the kite up for a big jump, only once your kiteloops feel solid and in conditions you know.

  2. Loop before the peak

While you are still rising, pull the back hand hard and push the front hand forward to throw the kite into the loop.

  3. Hold the bar in

Keep the bar sheeted in through the loop and stay compact as the kite pulls you forward.

  4. Let the kite climb

Once the loop is complete, ease the bar out slightly so the kite climbs to 12 o'clock and catches you.

  5. Land downwind

Point the board downwind and land with knees bent, riding out the speed.

Common mistakes

  • Looping too late

Start the loop before the peak of the jump so the kite has time to come back up.

  • Releasing the pull

Keep the bar in and the back hand pulling until the kite has come all the way round.

  • Sending too far back

Send the kite less far toward the window edge so it keeps the speed to finish the loop.
