Megaloop Backroll

Advanced
  • Jump
  • Rotation
  • Kiteloop

A high jump where you start a slow backroll and loop the kite during the rotation, a big megaloop that pulls you a long way downwind. One of the most demanding big air combinations, built on megaloops and backroll kiteloops.

How to

  1. Choose your conditions

Only try this in steady, strong wind with lots of space downwind, once your megaloops and backroll kiteloops are consistent.

  2. Go for a high jump

Send the kite back toward 12 o'clock with a strong pop to get real height.

  3. Start a slow backroll

Turn your head and shoulders upwind to start a slow backroll as you climb.

  4. Loop the kite

During the rotation near the peak, pull the back hand hard and keep pulling while the kite loops.

  5. Release the bar slightly

Ease the bar out slightly as the kite comes round so it lifts you, then land heading downwind.

Common mistakes

  • Pulling the loop too late

Start the loop near the peak so the kite has time to come round.

  • Rotating too fast

Keep the backroll slow so you are still rotating while the kite loops.

  • Bar held fully in

Release the bar slightly once the loop is going so the kite pulls you up instead of down.
