Kitesurf trick
Megaloop Late Backroll
- Jump
- Rotation
- Kiteloop
A megaloop where you wait and start the backroll late, around three quarters through the loop. It follows the megaloop backroll and gives a smoother, more controlled finish.
How to
Send for the megaloop
Edge hard and send the kite for a high jump as for your megaloop backroll, only in conditions you already megaloop in.
Start the loop
At the peak, pull the back hand hard to loop the kite.
Wait in the loop
Stay upright with the bar in while the kite pulls you through the first part of the loop.
Rotate late
When the kite is about three quarters round, lift your legs and start the backroll.
Ease out and land
Release the bar slightly as the kite climbs out of the loop and land heading downwind.
Common mistakes
Rotating too early
Wait until the kite is three quarters round before you start the backroll.
Releasing the loop
Keep pulling the back hand until the kite has come all the way round.
Fighting the pull
Let the kite carry you upright through the loop and save your energy for the roll.
