Kitesurf trick
No-Hand Frontroll
- Jump
- Rotation
A frontroll where you let go of the bar with both hands for the whole rotation and catch it again before landing. It shows you can trust your kite position and makes your frontroll look much cleaner.
How to
Set the stopper
Before you go, slide the stopper ball down so the bar stays near the sweet spot when you let go.
Pop and let go
Pop off a solid edge with the kite around 11 or 1 o'clock and let go of the bar with both hands as you leave the water.
Generate the spin
Start the rotation from your pop and shoulders, since you have no bar to steer it.
Look over your shoulder
Look over your back shoulder to keep rotating and spot the landing.
Catch and land
Take the bar back at the centre just before touchdown and land heading downwind.
Common mistakes
Bar drifting away
Set the stopper ball low so the bar stays close and the kite keeps its power.
No rotation
Start the spin with your pop and shoulders before you let go.
Late catch
Reach for the bar as you come round so you have it before your feet touch the water.
