Kitesurf trick

Frontroll to Blind

Intermediate
  • Jump
  • Rotation

A frontroll where you land in blind instead of heelside. It combines your frontroll with the blind landing from the pop to blind and leads into handle pass tricks later.

How to

  1. Bear away with tension

Bear away slightly with the kite at 11 or 1 o'clock, front leg straight, hips over the back foot and the bar in.

  2. Pop into the frontroll

Pop, pull your front hand a little so the kite does not climb, and lead the frontroll with your head.

  3. Wait in the air

Keep your knees up and finish the frontroll first, watching where you are going.

  4. Whip to blind

Just before touchdown, whip your legs and hips round to blind and let go with your back hand.

  5. Land tail first

Touch down new tail first so the board pivots into blind, and ride away as in the pop to blind.

Common mistakes

  • Rotating straight through

Treat it as two moves, finish the frontroll, wait, then throw to blind.

  • Holding on with both hands

Let go with your back hand as you throw so you can turn the full amount.

  • No speed on landing

Go in faster with the kite lower, at 11 or 1 o'clock, so you land with power.
