Kitesurf trick
Stalefish Grab
- Grab
A grab where your back hand reaches behind your back leg to hold the heel edge between your feet. A classic grab and a good next step after your first jump grabs.
How to
Jump with a steady kite
Take off with the kite at 12 o'clock and the bar in your front hand.
Tuck your knees
Pull your knees up high so the board comes close to your hand.
Reach behind the back leg
Bring your back hand around the back of your back leg and grab the heel edge between your bindings.
Hold and tweak
Hold the grab for a moment and push the board slightly forward with your legs to show it.
Release and land
Let go early, return your hand to the bar and land heading slightly downwind.
Common mistakes
Grabbing the toe edge
Reach behind your back leg so your hand lands on the heel edge.
Reaching down for the board
Bring the board up to your hand with your knees instead of bending down.
Letting go too late
Release once you start dropping so you have time to settle for the landing.
