Kitesurf trick

Indy Grab

Beginner
  • Grab

Your back hand grabs the toe edge between your bindings during a jump. One of the most common grabs and usually the first one riders try.

How to

  1. Jump with kite overhead

Pop and send the kite to 12 o'clock while holding the bar centred with your front hand.

  2. Pull your knees up

Tuck your knees toward your chest to bring the board up.

  3. Grab the toe edge

Reach your back hand down in front of you and hold the toe edge between your feet.

  4. Hold and tweak

Keep the grab and push your back knee down slightly for style.

  5. Let go and land

Release, bring your hand back to the bar and land with the board pointing downwind.

Common mistakes

  • Bending at the waist

Bring the board up to your hand by tucking your knees.

  • Steering the kite by accident

Keep your front hand in the centre of the bar during the grab.

  • Grabbing outside the feet

Hold the edge between the bindings for a clean Indy.
