Kitesurf trick

Roast Beef Grab

Beginner
  • Grab

Your back hand reaches between your legs from behind to grab the heelside edge between the bindings. A natural next grab once your indy is solid.

How to

  1. Jump with height

Send the kite to 12 o'clock and take off with a strong pop.

  2. Tuck both knees high

Pull your knees up and spread them slightly to make room for your arm.

  3. Reach through your legs

Let go with your back hand, bring it behind your back leg and through your legs to grab the heelside edge between your feet.

  4. Hold, then release

Hold the grab at the peak and let go as you start to drop.

  5. Land downwind

Get your back hand on the bar, send the kite forward and land with soft knees.

Common mistakes

  • Not enough tuck

Pull your knees higher so the edge is within reach between your legs.

  • Grabbing the toeside edge

Aim for the heelside edge between your bindings, reaching from behind your back leg.

  • Landing with one hand

Release at the peak so both hands are on the bar for touchdown.
