Kitesurf trick

Lizard Slide

Intermediate
  • Drag
  • Board-off

Like a bodyslide but lower: you take your feet out, push the board sideways onto the water beside you and slide along with your legs dragging, one hand on the board and one on the bar.

How to

  1. Ride with steady power

Ride with speed and the kite steady at 11 or 1 o'clock.

  2. Twist body and hips

Make a small pop and twist your body and hips so the board turns out sideways.

  3. Move the board sideways

Slide your feet out and push the board flat onto the water alongside you, holding it with your free hand.

  4. Drag your feet

Get low with your body stretched out and let your legs drag in the water while the bar hand holds you up.

  5. Feet back on the board

Pull your knees up, draw the board back under you, slide your feet in and edge away.

Common mistakes

  • Kite too low

Keep it at 11 or 1 o'clock so it holds your weight during the slide.

  • Letting go of the board

Keep one hand pressed on the board so it slides with you and comes back easily.

  • Staying too high

Get your body low and stretched out so your legs drag, otherwise it is just a bodyslide.
