Varial Boardpass

A hooked-in boardoff where you take the board off, spin it a full turn, pass it around your back from one hand to the other and put it back on. It combines the boardoff spin and the board pass.
How to
Jump with height
Send the kite to 12 o'clock for a big, controlled jump, hooked in, on a kite you know well in moderate wind.
Pull to the stopper ball
Pull the bar down onto the stopper ball and let go so the kite holds you up while both hands are on the board.
Spin the board
Grab the board, slide both feet out and spin it a full turn in front of you.
Pass it behind your back
Pass the board around behind your back from one hand to the other.
Feet in and land
Bring the board under you, slide your feet in, take the bar and land heading slightly downwind.
Common mistakes
Not enough height
Jump higher so the spin and the pass both fit.
Bar not on the stopper
Pull the bar onto the stopper ball before you let go so the kite stays parked above you.
Feet back in too late
Get the board back on before you start to drop.
